The Math Edge Academy is an online learning platform dedicated to helping students aged 11-18 excel in mathematics. We specialize in one-on-one tutoring, prerecorded video courses, and downloadable math resources tailored to specific international and college-prep curricula.

We specialize in supporting middle and high school students between the ages of 11 and 18. Our focus is on providing targeted help for key curricula and exams during these critical academic years.
Which curricula do you support?
We specialize in the following:
-CBC: Competency Based Curriculum. The official education curriculum in Kenya.
-IGCSE: Comprehensive support for both Core and Extended mathematics syllabi.
-IB (International Baccalaureate): Support for MYP and DP Mathematics (Analysis & Approaches, Applications & Interpretation).
-SAT: Full preparation for the Math sections of the SAT, including strategy and content review.
Tutoring Services
How does online tutoring work?
After signing up and selecting a plan, you can book sessions through our scheduling calendar. Sessions are conducted via our secure video classroom, which features an interactive whiteboard, document sharing, and real-time collaboration, perfect for working through problems step-by-step.
Who will be my tutor?
All tutoring is personally conducted by Lavender Wakasa, the founder and lead tutor of The Math Edge Academy. Lavender is an expert in the CBE, IGCSE, IB, and SAT curricula. With her direct instruction, you benefit from consistent, high-quality teaching aligned with the academy’s core methods and values.
What are Lavender’s qualifications?
Lavender Wakasa is a highly qualified mathematics educator with extensive experience teaching the CBE, IGCSE, IB, and SAT curricula. As the founder, she has designed the academy’s entire teaching methodology and resource library to ensure student success.
Can I book sessions directly with Lavender?
Yes. All sessions are with Lavender. Our booking system shows her real-time availability, allowing you to schedule recurring or one-time sessions directly.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
You can cancel or reschedule any session up to 24 hours in advance without penalty via your account. Cancellations within 24 hours may be subject to a fee to respect the tutor’s scheduled time.

Our prerecorded classes are designed for flexible, self-paced learning while maintaining the quality and depth of live sessions. Each class includes:

Do I get permanent access?
Yes! Purchase of any prerecorded class or resource bundle grants you lifetime access to that content, including any future updates.
What kind of resources do you offer?
Our resource library is crafted by Lavender and includes curriculum-specific formula sheets, exam-style question banks, step-by-step solution guides, revision checklists, and topic summaries; all designed to complement the CBE, IGCSE, IB, and SAT syllabi.
Can I use resources without being a tutoring student?
Absolutely. The resource store and class catalog are open to all. Purchasing a tutoring plan is not required.
Technical & Account
What do I need for a session?
You’ll need a stable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone (laptop, tablet, etc.), and a quiet workspace. We recommend having a notebook and pen, or a tablet with a stylus, for working along.
Is my session private?
Completely. Sessions are confidential and are never recorded or shared. We are fully committed to student safety and privacy. Please see our full Privacy Policy for details.
How do I change or cancel my subscription?
You can manage or cancel your monthly tutoring subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing cycle.
Pricing & Payments
What are your payment options?
We accept all major credit/debit cards and PayPal through our secure payment system.
Do you offer any discounts or packages?
We offer discounts for purchasing bundles of tutoring sessions in advance. Please check our “Courses” page for current package deals.
Can I try a session first?
Yes! We offer a free first 30-minute introductory session. This allows you to meet Lavender, discuss your goals, and experience the teaching style before committing to a package.
What is your refund policy?
We offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee on all prerecorded class purchases. For tutoring packages, any unused, pre-paid sessions can be refunded within 14 days of purchase. Please review our Terms of Service for complete details.
Getting Started
How do I sign up and book my first session?
1) Create a free account on our website.
2) Navigate to the “Book a Session” page to see and select an online class.
3) Select your time, choose a plan or single session, and complete the booking. You’ll receive a confirmation and a link to join your session.
